Why are these called "experiences" and not "cooking classes"
In My Kitchen cooking experiences are more than a cooking class, they are a culinary adventure. A large part of this experience falls outside of a traditional cooking class and is the marrying of a hands-on cooking experience with a cultural dining experience .
How are the culinary experiences structured?
Each experience takes place from 4:30pm-8:30pm on a Saturday or Sunday and includes up to 6 participants.
Each experience may vary slightly in format style and timing, but for the most part the following timetable is followed:
4:30pm – Welcome, introductions and a light snack
4:45pm – In the kitchen cooking, learning and sharing stories
7:30pm – Dinner together
8:30pm - Depart
How much do the culinary experiences cost?
Immersion Experiences are $95 per person plus tax. Taste of Experiences are $75 and Youth Culinary Adventures are $75.
How frequently do you add new experiences?
We generally post experiences 4-6 weeks in advance. Join our mailing list or follow us on social media to be notified when we post new experiences.
Is there alcohol at each experience?
All our IMK experiences have specifically selected alcoholic beverages that are traditional to drink with the meal. EXCEPT: Suha's Middle Eastern Family Meal, Carmela's Traditional Filipino meal and our experiences for kids/youth.
Do you do private culinary experiences?
We do, do private culinary experiences and require that all 6 spots be booked. If you are interested in having an experience in your own home with one of our hosts we can arrange that with you directly. We also do corporate experiences and can accommodate groups up to 22. I want to sign up with 5 friends (and fill a class). Can you schedule an experience specifically for us?
Yes! We can work with you to schedule a private class of your choice on the weekend of your choice.
Do you do family culinary experiences:
Yes, we do family experiences, this works like a private class and we will tailor the schedule and menu to accommodate your family.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes! You can purchase gift certificates for workshops.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel two weeks before your experience you will receive a full credit, which you can apply to another culinary experience. After that, you may send someone else in your place (we ask you to notify us in advance if you're doing this). In the rare event that an instructor needs to cancel last minute, students will receive a full refund. We do not otherwise offer refunds.
Can I return a gift certificate and get a refund?
Gift certificates are non-refundable.
I have food allergies and/or am on a special diet. Which workshops can I take?
All our culinary experience menus include detailed menus to help you choose an experience that works for you. You can also email us to confirm anything specific that’s not listed. However, the menus cannot be altered in any way to suit personal preferences, and participation is at your own risk.
Are your cooking experiences interactive or demonstration only?
Our Immersion cooking experiences are a combination of interactive hands on for the attendees as well as a mix of demonstration by the host. Our Taste of cooking experiences mostly demonstration style.
I’d like to attend with my teenage daughter/son. Is this possible?
Yes! We welcome guests ages 11 and up. If a guest is under 18 they must be registered along with an adult.
How do I find the location of my experience? What if I get lost?
Once you register for an experience, you will be sent an email with the exact address of your experience, along with transportation directions. There will also be an In My Kitchen staff member on-call on weekends from 2:00pm – 9:00pm whom you can contact if you’re lost or otherwise need help.
Can I find out the location of the experience before I purchase?
We do not provide the address until you book a workshop in order to protect the privacy of our hosts. However in the experience descriptions we do tell you what neighborhood each experience takes place in.
Who are your hosts? How do you find them?
All our hosts are exceptional home cooks with a deep knowledge of their cuisine. They are warm and generous hosts who have been carefully chosen and thoroughly vetted and trained. In addition to our own training, all our Hosts have their Level 1 Canada food safety certification.

Can I purchase an In My Kitchen Apron?
Yes, IMK aprons are available for sale at each workshop. The cost is $20 plus tax.
