Travel to the kitchens of Vietnam without leaving your own kitchen!

In this cooking class you will learn how Raymond grew up learning to make his family's recipe for Vietnamese Dumplings.  Making the dough from scratch, the opportunity to use a traditional dumpling rolling kit, and all the while hearing the stories of Raymond's life growing up in Vietnam and his journey to Canada.

  • We have a limited number of dumpling kits available here for curbside pick up in Vancouver.  Or you can use something that is about 5" long and 1.5-2" in diameter to roll out your wrappers.

    Technology: Connect to your host on zoom using your computer, tablet or mobile device. Your zoom link will be sent to you the day before your cooking class.

    Class Involvement: We love to hear from you, so please chime in with questions. Public classes have 4-20 participants, to ensure everyone is able to ask questions. Private cooking events can have up to 497

    Classes require a minimum of 4 connections to be held.

    Event Duration: 1.5 hours

    Prep Time: 10 minutes plus 30 minutes to soak your mushrooms
    Ingredient List
    Makes approx 16 dumplings
    For the Dough
    2 C All purpose unbleached flour
    1 T Cornstarch (for the little bit of extra chew)
    1 C luke warm water or more as needed For the Filling
    1C Lean Ground Pork
    1C Shell on medium Prawns
    ½ lb Fresh Garlic Chives clean
    12 Dried Cloud ear mushrooms

    Dipping Sauce
    1T Soy sauce
    1 T Rice Vinegar
    1 Thai chili thinly sliced

    Kitchen Equipment
    Dumpling Kit*10” frying pan with airtight glass lid preferred

    2 Mixing bowls
    A sharp knife

    What to Prep in Advance:
    Have your ingredients measured out and ready to go.

    Soak your mushrooms for 30 minutes in water.

    About the Dumpling Wrappers
    If you prefer to buy your dumpling wrappers that is okay.  Your wrappers won't be the traditional method, but they will still work.  You can purchase the ready made dumpling wraps.  If purchasing, look for a local brand if possible and key ingredients should only be flour and water with a short shelf life, due to no preservatives.  Look for them in the refrigerated section of your local Asian supermarket or directly from a local frozen dimsum business.

    Please note we do not offer refunds, but we do provide a full credit if you need to cancel.

    If you cancel two weeks before your cooking class you will receive a full credit, which you can apply to another cooking class. After that, for in-person classes you may send someone else in your place (we ask you to notify us in advance if you're doing this). For online cooking classes you are welcome to transfer your spot to someone else. In the rare event that an instructor needs to cancel last minute, guests will receive a full refund. We do not otherwise offer refunds.

    Join on Zoom

    Sign up for your cooking class, price is by device so feel free to invite friends to join you in your kitchen or make it a family event. A day before your experience you will receive your zoom and recipe link.

    Cooking Instructions

    All online cooking classes include interactive cooking instruction and all of the recipes. After registration you’ll receive an email with your shopping list and equipment list. Also available when you sign up.


    Online Cooking Classes are 1.5 hours in duration, and are co-hosted with In My Kitchen founder Paula Mohammed, on zoom.
